2026 incentives

The 2026 battery rebate, stacked on your solar STCs.

The federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program can take thousands off a home battery this year, and it stacks with the STC discount on your solar. We show every rebate as a dollar line on your quote, gross price, the discount, then net, never a vague "rebate applied".

How the 2026 rebate works
Load budget, worked out first

Will it carry the load?

We measure the headroom on your main switch before we quote, not after the gear is on site.

Why our quote looks different

The solar quote with the workings shown.

People get solar quotes thousands apart for the same roof because the cheap ones leave off the named gear, the shade study and the real STC figure. Here is everything that is on ours.

The scope and compliance sheet
  1. 1 Sized to your bill. The array is sized to your metered usage and load profile, not to the biggest rebate on offer.
  2. 2 Panel, named. The exact SunPower (or specified) panel on the quote, with its product and performance warranty, not "premium panels".
  3. 3 Inverter, named. The exact Fronius (or specified) inverter and its warranty, sized to the array, not the cheapest unit on the van.
  4. 4 Shading + roof study. Orientation, pitch and shade assessed on site, with optimisers or microinverters specified where the roof needs them.
  5. 5 STCs shown as a dollar line. The federal STC incentive applied as a point-of-sale figure: gross price, STC value, net. Never a vague "rebate applied".
  6. 6 Warranties, itemised. Panel product, panel performance, inverter and workmanship listed separately with their years, so you can compare like for like.
  7. 7 Compliance + paperwork. Installed by our own crew to AS/NZS 5033 and 4777, with the Certificate of Electrical Safety and Certificate of Compliance named as deliverables.
If a quote does not show these lines, you cannot compare it, and you do not know what has been cut.

Before
After
10kW SunPower system, coastal home, Casuarina. 10kW of SunPower panels on a Fronius inverter, sized to a $1,100 quarterly bill, with corrosion-rated coastal mounting.
Before
After
13.5kWh Powerwall retrofit, Lennox Head. 13.5kWh battery retrofitted to an existing 6.6kW system, backup gateway wired for essential circuits, ~7.5 year payback on the actual bill.
Before
After
7kW home EV charger + board check, Kingscliff. 7kW charger on a load-managed circuit after a board check freed up the spare ways and added RCD protection.
How it runs

From site assessment to monitored, signed-off system.

1

Site + usage assessment

We read your bills and load profile, study the roof orientation, pitch and shading, and check the switchboard and supply.

2

Design + named quote

You get the system sized to your usage, the panel and inverter named with their warranties, and the STC shown as a dollar line. The workings are on the page.

3

Approval + grid paperwork

Fixed scope, STCs handled, and the grid-connection and metering application lodged with your network and retailer.

4

In-house install

Our own crew installs to AS/NZS 5033 and 4777, never subcontracted. Staged around your trading hours for commercial sites.

5

Test + commission

Every string tested, the inverter commissioned and monitored, and the Certificate of Electrical Safety and Compliance issued.

6

Handover + monitoring

Monitoring set up on your phone, the warranties and certificates in your hand, and a walk-through of how the system runs.

Honest scope

We will tell you which one you actually need, not the biggest system we can sell you.

Option A

Solar only

A residential solar system sized to your bill: panels, inverter, metering and grid connection, on one design.

Right when: you want to cut the daytime bill and the roof and board can carry it.
Wrong when: you also want evening backup now (then look at solar + battery).
$5,500 – $12,000
Most common

Solar + battery

Solar plus a battery sized to your evening load, with a backup gateway when blackout protection matters.

Right when: you want the daytime and the evening bill sorted in one install.
Wrong when: you only need one piece right now.
$14,000 – $30,000
Option C

Commercial solar

Business and warehouse solar, EV fleet charging, or a staged multi-site program with one accountable installer.

Right when: you want generation matched to a daytime business load and a clean payback.
Wrong when: a single domestic system is all that is in front of you.
$20,000 – $250,000+
Warranty in writing

Three layers, and what each one covers.

Layer 01

Our workmanship

Years of cover on the install: mounting, cabling, isolators and the board work, done by our own crew. Excludes physical damage and faults in supply we did not touch.

Layer 02

Manufacturer

Panel product + performance, and the inverter, each carry their own years. We name the SunPower panel and Fronius inverter on your quote so you can read the actual warranty PDF.

Layer 03

Statutory (ACL + electrical)

Reasonable workmanship under Australian Consumer Law, plus the Certificate of Electrical Safety and Compliance that says the work meets AS/NZS 5033 and 4777. Always applies.

Reviews

From homeowners and businesses across the Tweed, Byron and the Gold Coast.

★★★★★
“They sized the system to our actual usage, not to the biggest rebate going. The SunPower panel and the Fronius inverter were named on the quote with their warranties, so we knew exactly what we were buying.”

★★★★★
“Before they quoted the battery they pulled our bills and modelled the payback against our real evening usage. It came in at the year they said, not a sales figure plucked out of the air.”
— Daniel R., Casuarina

★★★★★
“First thing they did before the home charger was open the switchboard and check it would carry the load. We needed an RCD added, and they costed that up front rather than after the fact.”

Watch this before you book

The questions every solar buyer asks, answered once.

A walk through switchboards, solar payback, battery backup, the STC figure, shading and warranty. Ten minutes here saves an hour on the day.

How much does a solar system actually cost in Northern NSW, and what is the payback? +
For most homes here a quality 6.6kW to 10kW system pays for itself in roughly four to seven years, depending on your usage and feed-in tariff. We will not quote a price without seeing your roof and a recent bill, because a real payback number depends on both. Ask us for a written estimate that shows the system price, the rebate, and the year-by-year payback in plain figures.
Will your quote tell me exactly which panel and inverter I am getting? +
Yes, and that is the whole point of how we work. Every Hardy quote names the exact panel model, the exact inverter, and why we chose them for your roof, alongside the real payback. We are SunPower and Fronius authorised, so you will see those names and the reasoning, not a vague "premium system".
Are you accredited, and is "CEC accreditation" still a thing? +
We are SAA accredited and a NETCC signatory. Solar Accreditation Australia replaced CEC accreditation for installers in 2024, so if a competitor is still selling you on "CEC accredited installers" their information is out of date. SAA accreditation is what the federal government now requires for your system to qualify for STC rebates.
How big is the 2026 battery rebate, and is a battery worth it for me? +
The federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program can take several thousand dollars off a battery in 2026, and it stacks with your solar STCs. Whether it is worth it depends on how much power you use after dark and whether you want blackout backup. We will show you the net cost after the rebate and the honest payback before you decide, rather than pushing a battery onto every quote.
Do you actually come out, or is this a call centre? +
We are local, with offices at Kingscliff / Chinderah and Ballina, and a real person inspects your roof before we design anything. That means we can drive back out if you ever need us, which an interstate call centre cannot. You talk to the same team from quote to aftercare.
What happens with the grid connection and export limits where I live? +
Most of Northern NSW is on the Essential Energy network (the southern Gold Coast is on Energex), which sets the rules for connecting your system and how much you are allowed to export. We handle the connection paperwork and tell you upfront if an export limit affects your design, so there are no surprises after install. Ask us what your address can export.
We are near the coast. Does salt air affect solar? +
It can, which is why coastal installs around Tweed, Byron and Ballina need corrosion-rated mounting and the right panel and inverter choice. We design for the salt-air zone rather than fitting the same kit we would use inland. This is exactly the kind of local detail a generic online quote misses.
How do I know if a solar quote I already have is any good? +
A good quote names the panel model, the inverter model, the total system size, every warranty layer, and a realistic payback. If a quote you are holding only says "premium panels" and a big saving number, you cannot actually compare it. Send it to us and we will translate it line by line, no obligation.
What warranties do I get, and on what exactly? +
You should always see three separate layers: the workmanship warranty, the inverter warranty, and the panel performance warranty, each with its own term. We spell all three out in writing so you know who covers what and for how long. Vague "full system warranty" lines are where buyers get caught.
How long do panels last, and what about cloudy or hail days? +
Quality panels are built to last 25 years and are impact-tested against hail, and they still generate on overcast days, just at reduced output. The bigger variable for your savings is correct sizing and orientation for your specific roof. That is what our site inspection sorts out.
