Solar PV

Solar sized to your bill, not to the biggest rebate on offer. We read your usage, study the roof and shading, and put every kW, the named SunPower panel and Fronius inverter, and every dollar of STC on the quote, so the system you sign for is the one that actually pays back.

How we size an array

Sized to your bill, not the rebate.

A bigger array is not a better return. We size to what you actually use, so more of the power stays in your house.

Sized to the rebate
9.5 yr
13.2 kW array, oversized for the STC count
Self-consumption 34% Export at a low feed-in tariff
Sized to your bill
5.5 yr
8.8 kW array, matched to daytime use
Self-consumption 71% Less power sold back at cents
Payback is the number that matters. Right-sizing cuts roughly 4 years off it.
Scope

What this job includes.

  • SAA-accredited design for homes across the Tweed, Gold Coast and Northern Rivers
  • Consumption analysis and shading study before the array is sized
  • SunPower panels and Fronius inverters, named on the quote with their warranties
  • Mounting, cabling, isolators and metering to AS/NZS 5033 and 4777
  • STCs handled and shown as a dollar line, plus monitoring set up on your phone
Our system: We size the array to your metered usage and roof, not to the rebate count. The shading note and the cable size are on your quote, and the panel and inverter are named so you can read the real warranty, not a vague "premium panels".
Estimator

Size it for yourself, in three clicks.

A starting point using the same logic we use on site. Indicative only, not a quote.

Your average quarterly electricity bill

Indicative only. A real number comes from a site assessment with the usage read, the shading studied and the switchboard checked. This tool sizes a starting point, not a quote.

How we quote it

The same itemised quote, every time.

Whatever the job, your quote names the panel and inverter, sizes the system to your bill and shows the STC as a figure, so you can see exactly what you are paying for.

The scope and compliance sheet
  1. 1 Sized to your bill. The array is sized to your metered usage and load profile, not to the biggest rebate on offer.
  2. 2 Panel, named. The exact SunPower (or specified) panel on the quote, with its product and performance warranty, not "premium panels".
  3. 3 Inverter, named. The exact Fronius (or specified) inverter and its warranty, sized to the array, not the cheapest unit on the van.
  4. 4 Shading + roof study. Orientation, pitch and shade assessed on site, with optimisers or microinverters specified where the roof needs them.
  5. 5 STCs shown as a dollar line. The federal STC incentive applied as a point-of-sale figure: gross price, STC value, net. Never a vague "rebate applied".
  6. 6 Warranties, itemised. Panel product, panel performance, inverter and workmanship listed separately with their years, so you can compare like for like.
  7. 7 Compliance + paperwork. Installed by our own crew to AS/NZS 5033 and 4777, with the Certificate of Electrical Safety and Certificate of Compliance named as deliverables.
If a quote does not show these lines, you cannot compare it, and you do not know what has been cut.
How it runs

What happens, step by step.

1

Site + usage assessment

We read your bills and load profile, study the roof orientation, pitch and shading, and check the switchboard and supply.

2

Design + named quote

You get the system sized to your usage, the panel and inverter named with their warranties, and the STC shown as a dollar line. The workings are on the page.

3

Approval + grid paperwork

Fixed scope, STCs handled, and the grid-connection and metering application lodged with your network and retailer.

4

In-house install

Our own crew installs to AS/NZS 5033 and 4777, never subcontracted. Staged around your trading hours for commercial sites.

5

Test + commission

Every string tested, the inverter commissioned and monitored, and the Certificate of Electrical Safety and Compliance issued.

6

Handover + monitoring

Monitoring set up on your phone, the warranties and certificates in your hand, and a walk-through of how the system runs.

Accredited, covered, warranted

The paperwork behind the price.

SAA SAA-PLACEHOLDER, EC-PLACEHOLDER, Public liability insured, and a Workmanship warranty workmanship warranty. All in writing, all on the quote.

A walk through exactly what is covered: the SAA accreditation and licence you can verify, the cover that protects your home, and the warranty that names its own exclusions instead of hiding them.

The licence, the cover, the warranty, and how to check each one.

Questions, answered

Common Solar PV questions.

How big a system do I need? +
It comes from your usage, not a roof guess. We read your bills and load profile, study the shading and roof orientation, and size the array to match. A 6.6kW system suits many homes, but the right answer for you is on the quote with the working shown. The estimator on our pricing page gives you a starting point.
What is the payback, really? +
We model it against your actual bill and tariff, not an average. The payback depends on how much you use during the day, your feed-in tariff and the system size, and we show you the numbers before you commit. A typical well-sized home system pays back in the range of four to seven years.
What rebates and STCs do I get, and are they in the price? +
Small-scale Technology Certificates (STCs) are the federal solar incentive, and we apply them as a point-of-sale discount and show the figure as a line on the quote. You see the gross price, the STC value, and the net, never a vague "rebate applied".
Why SunPower and Fronius? +
Because we will name what we install and stand behind it. SunPower panels and Fronius inverters are premium, well-supported gear with warranties you can actually read, and we are an authorised installer for both. If a value-tier panel suits your budget and roof better, we will quote that too, named, not hidden.
Will solar work in a blackout? +
Not on its own. A standard grid-connected system shuts down in an outage for safety (anti-islanding), so the grid stays safe for line workers. If blackout protection matters to you, that is a battery with a backup gateway, and we can size that with the solar.
Do you subcontract the install? +
No. Every Hardy system is installed by our own in-house crew, not a subcontractor we have never met. It is how we keep the quality and the warranty honest, and it is one of the main reasons our customers send us their neighbours.
What feed-in tariff will I get, and how does the Essential Energy network affect it? +
Most of Northern NSW is on the Essential Energy network, which sets your connection rules and any export limit, while the feed-in tariff itself comes from your retailer and changes between plans. We size the system around self-consumption first, because using your own power is worth far more than the feed-in rate, then handle the connection paperwork so the export side is sorted before install.
Does my roof orientation and pitch suit solar? +
North-facing roofs are ideal, but east and west both work well and often suit evening or morning usage better. Pitch, shading and roof type all factor in, which is why we assess your actual roof on site rather than sizing off a satellite image. If part of your roof is shaded, we may split strings or add microinverters so one shaded panel does not drag the rest.
Will the system come with a monitoring app? +
Yes. Every system we install includes monitoring so you can see daily generation and consumption on your phone, and we set it up and show you how to read it at handover. It is also how we spot a fault early, a dropped string or a tripped inverter shows up in the data before you notice it on the bill.
