How accurate is the payback estimate?

It is indicative, not a quote. It uses your postcode (for the Clean Energy Regulator solar zone and STC value), your bill and when you use power, then applies conservative generation and self-consumption assumptions. Your real number depends on your roof, shade, switchboard, export limit and tariff, which we confirm on a site assessment.

Where do the numbers come from?

System sizing and the STC rebate use Clean Energy Regulator material (CC BY 4.0). Location data uses G-NAF © Geoscape Australia. Default electricity rates and feed-in tariffs come from the AER Default Market Offer, the Victorian Default Offer and IPART. The exact attribution and the date the assumptions were last reviewed are shown in the fine print under the result.

Why is the battery payback shown separately?

Accepted Answer

Because blending it hides the truth. A battery has its own marginal cost and its own marginal saving, so we show the battery-only payback on its own — never folded into the solar payback. That way you can see whether the battery, by itself, makes sense for your evening use.

Is this a fixed quote?

Accepted Answer

No. It sizes a starting point and shows an indicative payback. A fixed, itemised quote comes from a site assessment, with the panel and inverter named and the STC shown as a dollar figure, with EC-PLACEHOLDER and SAA SAA-PLACEHOLDER on it.
